What is Social Venture Philanthropy?

Introduction
Social Venture Philanthropy (SVP) is an innovative philanthropic model based on the business concept of venture capital. Unlike traditional philanthropy, which simply distributes funds, SVP takes a more engaged, hands-on approach to social investment.
How Does SVP Work?
Under SVP, Prashamsa Foundation identifies genuine grassroots NGOs that are making real impact but lack the capacity or resources to scale. We then handhold and build these organizations' capacities, providing them with not just financial support but also strategic guidance, mentorship, and network access.
Our SVP Focus Areas
- Scalability: Helping organizations grow their reach and impact systematically.
- Sustainability: Building self-sustaining models that do not depend on continued external support.
- Leadership Culture: Creating a culture of leadership and excellence within partner organizations.
- Accountability: Inculcating a deep sense of accountability among the general public and partner NGOs.
Why SVP Matters
Traditional charity often creates dependency. SVP, by contrast, creates lasting change by investing in people, systems, and organizations — enabling them to become agents of transformation in their own communities.
At Prashamsa Foundation, we believe that sustainable social change requires an approach that combines the rigor of business with the heart of philanthropy. SVP is that bridge.
